The New York State Legislature returns for the second half of the legislative session, once again under a cloud of corruption, and with numerous unsettled issues. The session begins Tuesday, after the spring break, and this time it’s the leader of the Senate who is the focus of a federal corruption probe.
Federal prosecutors have begun presenting evidence to a grand jury considering a case against the leader of the New York State Senate, Dean G. Skelos of Long Island, and his son, according to people with knowledge of the matter.
On April 22nd, 2015, on, or about 10:15 AM a Pro-se litigant involuntarily visited the Cattaraugus County Court Clerk’s Office on the second floor of the county building to review file that concerned his issue. The Pro-se is another victim of Lori Riemans corruption and her criminal activity. The purpose of the visit was the change of venue issues that were occurring in his case. A poll released Thursday by Monmouth University found that 12 percent of U.S. voters thought New York leads the nation with the most political corruption, edging out California at 11 percent and Illinois at 9 percent. New Jersey ranked fourth at 5 percent.
“When it comes to political corruption, it seems the entire country is in a New York state of mind,” said Patrick Murray, director of the Monmouth University Polling Institute in West Long Branch, N.J., said in a statement.
The United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced that former Spring Valley Mayor NORAMIE JASMIN was found guilty in federal court today of engaging in a bribery scheme in which she negotiated a 50 percent stake for herself in a development company and $5,000 cash in exchange for her use of her office to obtain land and various government approvals to construct a community center in Spring Valley. She was convicted after a one week bench trial before U.S. District Judge Colleen McMahon.
